It's such a bizarre thing. I'm glad it hasn't infected NYC much, yet. When I used to see it it seemed to be intending the equivalent of bolding the words, though certainly not always.
ReplyDeleteI remember at WesWings sometimes people writing the things on the specials board would use the quotes. It was always a bad idea with food, because you ended up saying things like:
(("Turkey" dinner)) or (("Lasagna"))
Which I assume made some people sketched out.
